Toilet Paper Moisteners: Gel, Foam Or Spray? Which One To Choose?

The latest trend in personal hygiene – bottom hygiene is gaining momentum. More and more adults are using wet wipes or toilet paper moisteners to be clean, healthy and get rid of skid marks on white underwear, because good hygiene is always sexy. Although “flushable” towelettes are convenient to use, they wreak havoc on the environment. That’s because these sheets can contain non-biodegradable materials such as polyester and polypropylene. Lawmakers are already planning to ban wet wipes in the UK and EU in the near future so let’s focus on sustainable options.

What is toilet paper moistener?

Toilet paper moisteners are gels, foams or scented water sprays that you can apply to regular toilet tissue to clean colon area and skin & hair around it after taking number 2. There are many options on the market, starting from the mass market sprays like Etiquette to high quality gels sold in pharmacies like SATU laboratory. Which one is right for you depends a lot on your needs and budget. Here is a short overview of advanatages and disadvantages of different types of products.

Foams

Foams advantages are that they are easy to use and moderately priced. The biggest problems according to Amazon customers are the wetness of the foam, that causes many/most toilet papers to come apart even when using substantially more paper than normal and difficulty of applying just the right amount as anyone who has used shaving foams knows. The are few options on the market like Refresh foam that can be purchased through Amazon.

Gels

Gels main advantages are the great pores cleaning abilites and content that doesn’t wet the paper as much as sprays, so there is a smaller risk of fingers going through paper when wiping. Gel is not a good option for people who want cheaper bulk options as it is most expensive option. Currently there is only one gel, SATU laboratory’s on the market that is sold in pharmacies in Northern Europe, Amazon US, Amazon Germany, Amazon France, Amazon Australia and Amazon UK.

Sprays

Sprays biggest advantage is that there are many options on the market to choose between and that sprays are by far the cheapest solution. Main disadvantage based on customer reviews are that sprays squirt out slightly bubbly liquid that instantly soaks through the paper, causing it to completely fall apart during use, some people call it just a scented water. Also money spent on toilet paper will grow significantly because you must use a lot of paper or else there will be huge mess later. Currently there are many options on the market like Fresh Wipe and Fresh Assist to name a few.

So next time you have diarrhoea, hemorrhoids, dry skin, no shower nearby or want to feel sexy know that there are many options on the market that have smaller environmental impact than so called „flushable“ wet wipes.

CNN: Spray From Toilet Could Spread Coronavirus

CNN reports: Flush carefully. Study suggests coronavirus could spread in spray from toilet

Here’s a good reason to put the lid down before you flush: a new computer modeling study shows how a flushing toilet can send a cloud of little particles containing fecal matter into the air — fecal matter that could carry coronavirus.

Combat COVID-19 with Proper Hygiene

It’s not surprising that the coronavirus has got the whole world worried and anxious. It spreads fast and can remain on surfaces for more than a week. People all over the world are scrambling to stock up on face masks, rubbing alcohol, soap, toilet paper, and other essentials.

But before you join the paranoia, understand that the coronavirus is nowhere near as contagious as the chicken pox or the measles. It’s also nowhere near as deadly as SARS, MERS, the smallpox, Ebola, and the bird flu. Hence, there’s no need to panic. Just know how to keep good full-body hygiene and be safe from the COVID-19 virus.

Stop the Crap! Clean Up with Toilet Paper Gel

£100 million is spent annually to address 300,000 sewer blockages in the UK. A 2017 study found that 93% of the materials that cause these blockages are wipes flushed down the toilet.

The same thing is happening in the US. In October 2018, Charleston Water spent $140,000 to fix damages caused by a 12-foot long clog of disposable wipes. A similar clog happened again in June 2019 and cost another $60,000.
